How To Focus

We are in this world full of distraction.

People will work on their tasks but as soon as they got a notification, they will mostly hit their notification. what most unsuccessful people do is they will try to hit that notification and watch that one video or see that one meme. Until they find themselves lost and realize that they keep scrolling down on their feed for hours.

So what do successful people do in order to stay focused and get things done?

Well, the key to successful focus is intention and attention.

That’s it! that’s the answer on how to focus successfully. Successful people can go on with their day and finish multiple tasks. They even got to spend 14 hours of their day and not a single hour is wasted, how can they do that?

Let me explain further below on how to focus successfully

Develop Focus Muscle.

Elie Venezky, author of Hack Your Brain. “Focus is a muscle, and you can build it,” he says. “Too many people labor under the idea that they’re just not focused, and this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Once you drop this mistaken belief, you can take a much more realistic approach to build focus.”

Your focus is also a muscle. when you try to focus on one thing at a time you gather all your energy to train yourself on being focused. Just like training your body, You don’t do bicep curls and squat, you also can do that, but it is not much of an effective workout.

You can develop your focus muscle by doing one thing at a time. If you want to develop as much focus, train yourself focused on meditating for 10 minutes and gradually increasing 15, 20, to 30 minutes. Another great practice you can do is by reading, You can develop your focus muscle just by focused reading 5 pages until its done, and gradually increasing it to 50 pages daily.

Practice Doing One Thing at a Time. This will develop your focus muscle.

Stop Browsing and Scrolling

“Stop browsing so much, stop reading those tweets, stop scrolling down on your news feed. Guess what everytime you look at them, what’s your mind has to do is to make a decision – pay attention or not pay attention, and that decision is costing you focal power and resources later on, even if you don’t know it.” Brendon Burchard says.

When you search for something maybe on YouTube, if you’re searching for something you might find something, an interesting headline, and then you clicked on it, and then you find another one, then it doesn’t stop because you keep finding these interesting videos. and it’s addictive and distractive at the same time.

On Facebook or Twitter, when seeing that notification and it’s entertaining, and you go back to work and you see another notification on your phone. What your mind want is to be entertained again, so what you’re going to do is to click that again. And it’s a cycle because this social media is designed to make you stick into it.

Stop browsing and scrolling so much, because if you do that you’re training your mind to receive instant dopamine and you want more and can’t stop.

If you’re going to browse, find that video or link then get out or you will get caught up on this distracting place.

Have a Goal In Mind

Zig Ziglar says. “The fact is that you can’t hit a target that you can’t see. If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else. You have to have goals.”

If you don’t have any goals then you automatically set up yourself to get distracted. Have a goal this day before going to sit and work. You must define your goal. You need to have a goal for what you’re doing today. Become intentional on what’s the thing that needs to get done.

Most people show up to work, and they don’t have a clear goal of what needs to be accomplished. So they stumble millions of links and hours has passed he feels groggy and wanting to end the day and start tomorrow again.

Have a goal. So you know if you’re getting distracted or not.

Prioritize Task

“When you have a project of any kind, begin using your organizational skills by making a to-do list of every step that you will have to complete to finish the project from beginning to end. Prioritize tasks by organizing the project by priority and sequence.” Bran Tracy says.

If you want to be really really focused today, Prioritize your tasks, in all your to-do-list choose one thing that is the most important thing to accomplish on this day. And work on it until it gets accomplished.

When you got to finish this one task, you will be empowered because you know for yourself that you are the one who is controlling your life.

Out of all ten task in your to-do-list choose the one that is the most important thing and do it until it’s accomplished.

Take Short Breaks

If you constantly working and you’re so much focused than ever before, Congratulations, you are on your way to creating success.

But don’t forget something, just because you’ve done a lot of things it means you can move on and get another big task to be accomplished. You are not a robot, you are not a machine neither do I. We have limitation and energy.

If you haven’t finished your project yet and 2 hours have passed take a break, get some fresh air, eat healthy snacks, go workout, or just to relax for 5 to 15 minutes then go and break some eggs.

Take short breaks every 1 hour as much as possible. To avoid over fatigue.
